“Yashasvi Jaiswal is absolutely ready to play Test cricket in England and Australia”, says Ishant Sharma.

Experienced fast bowler Ishant Sharma has expressed his belief that young talent Yashasvi Jaiswal is well-prepared to open the batting for India in English and Australian conditions. Jaiswal, who recently made a remarkable Test debut against the West Indies, is regarded as a promising prospect who can contribute significantly to Indian cricket in the coming years.

At just 21 years of age, Jaiswal has already showcased his potential by amassing 1845 runs in 15 first-class matches and making a strong impression in the Indian Premier League. This impressive track record led to his selection for his Test debut in the West Indies, where he made an impact by scoring a sensational century.

Speaking about Jaiswal’s performance in the first Test, Ishant Sharma highlighted the young cricketer’s ability to execute cut and pull shots confidently against the new ball. Ishant regarded this as a positive sign, indicating Jaiswal’s adaptability and proficiency in tackling challenging conditions. Ishant also noted that Jaiswal exercised caution in playing cover drives, considering the risk of being caught behind or in the slips.

Ishant Sharma said “According to me, he is absolutely ready [ to play in England and Australia] because if you see this innings as well, all the boundaries he hit, especially against the new ball, they all came with cut or pull shots, It is a great sign for an opening batter when he refrains from playing a cover drive to a full delivery. If you play the cover drive, there is a chance of you getting caught behind or in the slips. He looked to score runs only with cuts and pulls against the new ball, which is every batter’s strength. Whenever the ball was pitched up, apart from an odd loose shot, he either defended it or played with the full face of the bat. This becomes very important for an opener.”
