“You don’t play for the country, just directly play in the IPL”: Praveen Kumar slams Hardik Pandya.
Former Indian cricketer Praveen Kumar has criticized Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya ahead of the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League. Kumar, 37, pointed out that the talented all-rounder frequently suffers injuries, limiting his appearances for the national team, and also neglects playing for his state team in domestic cricket.
During the ODI World Cup match against Bangladesh, Pandya sustained an ankle injury, which sidelined him for a significant period. He recently made his comeback to professional cricket and joined the Mumbai Indians camp on March 11. Kumar suggested that Pandya should prioritize playing more international and domestic matches rather than solely focusing on the IPL.
Praveen Kumar said “You get injured two months before the IPL, you don’t play for the country, you don’t play for your state in domestic cricket, and just directly play in the IPL. That’s not how things should be done. It’s okay to earn money, there’s nothing wrong with that. But you have to play for state and country and now people only give importance to the IPL.”
