“Rehab is very irritating, but you have to do it at the end of the day”: Rishabh Pant.

Indian cricketer and Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant has candidly discussed his rehabilitation journey following a car accident, describing it as tedious and monotonous. Despite the challenges, Pant emphasized his wholehearted commitment to the process, recognizing it as the sole path to recovery from the injuries sustained in the accident.

The 26-year-old cricketer encountered a frightening ordeal when his car collided with a road divider on the Delhi-Dehradun highway near Roorkee on December 30, 2022. Fortunately, Pant escaped with injuries, albeit significant ones. However, his dedication to rehabilitation has led to a quicker-than-anticipated recovery, paving the way for his return to action in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.

In the second part of a special series titled ‘Miracle Man’ on bcci.tv, Pant shared insights into the arduous journey of rehabilitation, highlighting the challenges and the repetitive nature of the process.

Rishabh Pant said “Firstly, rehab is very irritating. The worst thing about rehab is that you have to do the same thing again and again. At the same time, you have to do it because you don’t have any other choice. It’s boring. You have to do the same stuff, you have to see the same people, but you have to do it at the end of the day. The more boring you do, the better you get [sic].”

Earlier this week, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released an official medical update on Pant, confirming his fitness to take on the role of wicketkeeper for Delhi Capitals during IPL 2024.
