Royal Challengers Bangalore Women secured a resounding victory over Delhi Capitals Women by 8 wickets to clinch the Women’s Premier League title in just the tournament’s second season, contrasting with their men’s team, which is yet to taste success in the IPL. The bowlers played a pivotal role, stifling the opposition batters throughout the match.

In pursuit of 114 runs, skipper Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine stitched together a crucial partnership for RCB. Ellyse Perry remained unbeaten as RCB comfortably chased down the target. However, despite a solid start with a 64-run opening stand between captain Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma, Delhi Capitals faltered as none of their subsequent batters could make substantial contributions. Jemimah Rodrigues and Alice Capsey failed to get off the mark, while Radha Yadav and Arundhati Reddy reached double figures but couldn’t capitalize. Shreyanka Patil starred with the ball, claiming 4 wickets, while Sophie Molineux and Asha Sobhana provided valuable support, resulting in Delhi being bundled out for 113 in 18.3 overs.

Mandhana’s 31-run innings, supported by Sophie Devine’s 32 and Perry’s unbeaten 35, ensured RCB’s victory. Richa Ghosh also remained not out with 17 runs, sealing the win for the Bangalore-based franchise.
