“It would be a fantastic double if the RCB Men’s Team won the IPL” – Vijay Mallya reacts on RCB winning WPL 2024 trophy.

Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) owner Vijay Mallya extended his congratulations to the RCB team following their triumph in the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2024) title match.

In the WPL 2024 final held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday, March 17, Bangalore secured victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) by eight wickets, successfully chasing down a target of 114 runs. Mallya shared his excitement about the team’s success by posting on the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter).

In addition to praising the Bangalore women’s team for their achievement, Mallya expressed his hopes for the men’s team to secure their first Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy this year.

Mallya wrote “Heartiest congratulations to the RCB Women’s Team for winning the WPL. It would be a fantastic double if the RCB Men’s Team won the IPL which is long overdue. Good Luck.”

After a disappointing campaign last year in the inaugural season of the WPL, Bangalore’s women’s team, led by Smriti Mandhana, staged a remarkable turnaround this edition to claim the championship.

In the WPL 2024 final, Shreyanka Patil and Sophie Molineux showcased their bowling prowess, with Patil claiming four wickets and Molineux taking three. Bangalore comfortably chased down the target, with valuable contributions from their top-order batters.
